02. Dress Code

I belong to the LDS church, momentarily, and have done for many years. I used to like attending it and took its teachings seriously, especially the existence of Satin in the world, but as of lately I see a growing culture of disrespect and abuse for deity. We believe in a living prophet of God. A person in direct communication with God. If you believe that, and every devout LDS member believes that without exception, whatever He said you would believe it and act accordingly. In our April 2023 World Wide Conference the prophet spoke these words to the congregation of the church; “Contention drives away the Spirit—every time. Contention reinforces the false notion that confrontation is the way to resolve differences; but it never is. Contention is a choice. Peace making is a choice. You have your agency to choose contention or reconciliation. I urge you to choose to be a peacemaker, now and always. [It is wrong] for those who punish family members with the “silent treatment.”  I do not think that can be any clearer. Stop punishing family members with the silent treatment. If you then continue in cruelly punishing them with the silent treatment surely you are blatantly going against a living Prophet, whose words are the same as the words of God. You are disobeying God and then taking the sacrament renewing your baptismal covenants and expect your sins to be forgiven you. If you believe in God, and I know that not everyone does, and that is fine with me, but at least 48% of the world’s population do, so why would you blatantly go against his commandments unless your loyalty to God is really a loyalty to Satan. A devout Christian would never go against the words of Jesus Christ and not expect retribution. It does not make sense. 2+2 will always equal 4. It never changes, it will always be that way. The same applies to the word of God 2+2 is the word of God and the equals 4 is the consequences that will always apply, always. How then is a proclaimed Christian, who attends Church regularly, and whilst there “gives family the silent treatment”, going against the word of God, and then openly partakes of the Sacrament. It is not hard to see the hypocrisy in that, yet no one ever kindly takes them to one side to explain the errors of their actions. How is that acceptable and how can anybody say that the Church of Jesus Christ is the only true church when such behaviours is blatantly allowed and exists in the true church of Jesus Christ.  When such behaviour is blatant, and on the surface there seems to be no retribution, why should i wear a tie to church or a pair of jeans. If brother and sister “Apostate” can get away with giving their family the silent treatment, why should I dress appropriately enough to meet God. Before we know it all sorts of standards will be dropped, hence the importance in following the Prophet.  It would be interesting to hear someone’s reactions, and one persons in particular, but nobody is forcing anyone to say anything. I just need to know if my evaluation is correct or am I allowing the anguish of my predicament taint my opinion.
